We Are D A R
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR) is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women's service organization. DAR was founded in 1890 by a small group of patriotic women who loved their country and wanted to serve the nation and its people. DAR is a lineage society and membership requires a proven connection to an American Revolutionary War Patriot. The Jean Marie Cardinell Chapter, NSDAR, is a large and dynamic chapter. Jean Marie Cardinell Chapter, NSDAR, was founded in 1941 and has been going strong ever since. Our members are primarily from the central Iowa area but we have members from across Iowa and the United States. We hold chapter meetings nine times a year on the first Saturday of the month. We also have many activities, events, celebrations, workshops, state and national conferences, and opportunities to gather and serve throughout the year. |

Do You Have an American Revolutionary War
Patriot in Your Family Tree?
Membership in the DAR requires a lineage connection to an American Revolutionary War Patriot. A Patriot is defined as a man or woman who was in military service during the war for independence, but he or she may also have contributed to the cause by providing material aid such as supplies for the troops. DAR membership honors and preserves the legacy of your Patriot ancestor. American Patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. Through participation in DAR's various programs, activities, and committees, you can continue this legacy. DAR members are proud to actively support historic preservation, encourage education, and promote patriotism.
